The Postal Service – “A Tattered Line of String”

New Postal Service!

I honestly don’t feel like I need to say more, but, fine. I will. The Postal Service is a band that defined my adolescence. If you think that’s an overstatement, then I challenge you to remember when you were 15, and think of the band you loved at that age. That’s your band. Mine is Ben Gibbard.

I don’t think anyone expected an announcement from The Postal Service that they’d be playing Coachella, or that they’d tour more dates, or that there would be a new song, ten years later, after Gibbard had spent so much time away from it and pursuing other avenues. With that said, I think everyone who feels the same way I do about the band has been secretly hoping for ten years that that exact thing would happen.

Here it is, “A Tattered Line of String.” It’s good. Or maybe it isn’t. My 15-year-old self certainly doesn’t care.
